Grade 1
Increasing water confidence; introduction of basics such as blowing bubbles underwater, swimming on the front and back for 5m and can be performed with use of aids; emphasis is on movement in the water.
Grade 2
Continuing to develop water confidence; developing the basic skills to an improved
level; push and glide; increased movement onto front and back; introduction
to floating positions; increased swim distance.
Grade 1
Ongoing development of swim distance without aids; changing shapes sequentially, significant development of backstroke and frontcrawl; surface dives; introduce breathing to the front and to the side; kicking all 4 strokes.
Grade 2
Developing different entry to the water; introduce sculling action; roll from front to back in one continuous movement; swimming front crawl and backstroke to 15m with the introduction of breaststroke.
Grade 1
Developing watermanship��� through sculling and treading water skills, and complete rotations; introduce basic diving; further development of skills, kicking and body position while performing all strokes to a more competent standard; developing effective swimming skills including coordinated breathing; successfully complete an obstacle course that combines a variety of skills accomplished earlier in the development; swimming distances of 25m on all strokes.
Grade 2
Continuation of the development of effective swimming with prolonged distance on all strokes up to 50 metres while maintaining smooth technique; developing quality stroke technique up to a distance of 100m, combining different kicking actions; personal survival techniques also included.
Grade 1
Introduction to competitive swimming with a continuation of all strokes, drills and kicking development combined with additional distance of continued swimming. Completion of swimming using the correct lane discipline procedures. Executing legal starts, turn and finishes while maintaining legal strokes throughout the specified sets.
Grade 2
Completion of sets lasting distances of 400m with a continuation of all stroke
skills, drills and kicking development ensuring a basic aerobic ability and
overall physical well-being.
